Scion Rae’s ability to put together a dope chorus with no auto-tune shines on this track – better yet, his vocals mix perfectly with the female back vocal into a hazed, relaxing melody. While we can’t put Scion Rae in the millennial stereotype, he basically rhymes about the same issues the whole generation seems to be facing. While he puts it in a pretty somber tone for a weed smoker’s anthem type of track, he can be confident the listener will relate just because he adds his own experience to it. Put that together with his god given gift for rhyming and you end up with a track that can only grow on you with time. He recognizes his habits as a sort of a crutch and we’ve seen a lot of talent rise to stardom by releasing their inner demons. But Scion Rae is far from the typical M.C. of today – his flow is on point as the beat seems to be intertwined with his train of thought. It’s so effortless that even the female back up can pick up a rhyming pattern which shouldn’t be taken lightly given his patterns are far from basic.
