1. Ricky Official we appreciate your time with us. Give us a brief background where your love for music came from?
I always had love for music.Ever since I was little.I grew up in Europe, and was exposed to a lot of different genres of music, and my mom’s family as well as my dad’s family are both involved in musical instruments sales so it was just natural that I fell in love with music myself.
2. Where are you from and what was life like for you growing up?
I’m originally from Europe better yet from Germany. To grow up over there wasn’t always easy especially as a mixed child, but I learned how to adapt, and it most definitely gave me insight of who I’am and made me who I’m today, and exposed me to different types of music.
3. You left Europe to pursue music in Atlanta, GA. What has been the reaction of people hearing your sound in your new city?
Arriving in Atlanta was really exciting to me and it still is really exciting. Ever since I started making music here, and started to release it I was getting a lot of positive reactions. As an artist you can’t please everyone, and I know that but I got to say that I’m pleasantly surprised of how open-minded people are around here, and how they welcomed me in their circle.
4. Talk to us about the current music your promoting?
I’m currently promoting my debut album Flying high which was released in July of this year. The album talks about relationships, and the ups and downs of it. A topic which I think a lot of people can relate to.
5. Who are some of the producers you’ve worked with so far?
Whenever I’m working with people I try to keep it in the same circle. On this particular album I worked with my good friends Brandon Consbruck of Conzbruck Productions and James Harris of We As One Productions. Both are hot up-and-coming producers from Atlanta and definitely worth checking out.
6. We read that you had the opportunity to hit the big screen. Explain some of the movies/parts you’ve had the opportunity to play?
I was part of a filming for a reality TV show concept but it has not been sold to the networks so I can’t really talk about it yet.
7. Coming up who in the music business has influenced today?
A lot of different music genres and artists artists influenced me and my music: Queen/ Guns and roses/Rick James/Michael Jackson/ Prince/Nas and newer artists like Kendrick Lamar and Anderson Paak as well.
8. What is the biggest lesson you’ve learn since pursing your dream in music?
That nothing happens overnight and you got to keep at it and invest money in time in order to get what you want to be I’m still far from it but I’m working on it every day.
9. What is your definition of Grynd?
My definition of grind is to pursue your goals with passion, and commitment, and make every possible sacrifice without losing yourself or hurting others in order to achieve those goals.
10. What else can we expect from Ricky Official?
Right now I’m doing gigs with my live band The Retrospektives and try to perform as much as possible. I also have another project in the works which will be different from my current project and will probably be released by the beginning of next year. I also plan to do more music videos and behind the scene material so people can get to know me better.
