Ooouuu what a smashing summer 2016 coming out of Brooklyn! Young M.A had the hood of New York ooouuu-ing her song to becoming a mega success on a number of charts. Well yeah Billboard naturally, let’s not forget Spotify and YouTube has over 150 million views to date. ‘Hood Love’ indeed but wait a minute, let me not overlook industry heads co-signing her song on social media. Oh yeah, Beyoncé, Jada Kiss, Alicia Keys and her hubby. And you know Funk Flex was blowing the single up on Hot97 back to back like Drake. Oops let me rephrase that, Ooouuu was a repeated bombed on his show.
Sitting here writing about a talent I personally have grown to admire and support 150%, is kind of difficult to be objective. Here’s why? We both love and represent Brooklyn! Secondly I honestly love each song she has out. I mean, have you listened to her mixtapes RedLyfe and Sleep Walking? Hardcore old school street bars, you know that gangster sish. Ok I made up this word, pardon me.
I literally was sleep walking and never knew about Brooklyn’s architect. So how did I learn about Young M.A? To be completely honest, it was like a Pvnch in the face after I saw her personal DJ posted a video on Instagram. Back in June she did a song with Pvnch her DJ, title ‘Brooklyn Everywhere’. Another sing along anthem that expresses both their love for Brooklyn. Anyways his connection in the industry mainly ‘ThisIs50’, relationships with key guards and her team focus is honestly what I think helped propelled her career.
Now we are in 2017 and her single ‘Get This Money’ seems to have the crowd hype whenever she performs it. I also see another single ‘My Guyz’ with her RedLyfe brother Yerreli is picking up steam on Hot97 and the crowd goes bananas when they perform it. Yeah man, I witnessed this myself at SOBs back in December for her Christmas Food Drive. Yerreli has crazy energy and not to mention the beat is officially sick; shout out producer Freshbeatz718. You know how we talk in Hip-hop, sick means HOT!
Before I go, just let me say this. Don’t hate or be reluctant to support her because of her sexuality. You might regret it, probably feel slightly bad and want to cry. As we all know in the end ‘Karma Krys’.
